In the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, the name Black Panthers struck fear in the hearts of most “white Americans.” In their blind fear, it was easy to attach all sorts of negative traits to what they didn’t know or didn’t understand. Colorado State University-Pueblo hosted the 6th Annual Young Women’s Real World Conference on Nov. 4 in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom.

The exhibit "Thanks 4 Ur Info!" details the fragmented relationship between modern communication and the compulsory attitude we have grown to embrace in exchanging conversations and ideas with one another. Five artists are shown, including Brian Buckbee, Jenna Kuiper, Boris Osterov, Rachel Perry Welty and Kyle Pierce. The works explore a portrayal of loneliness, abandoned memories and the need to embrace our past as a determining current in our future.
The exhibit runs until December 6th and is open from 10:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.University Orchestra showcases students of all ages

Music from Bach, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky echoed through the halls surrounding the Hoag Hall Theater at Colorado State University-Pueblo, as chamber ensembles and the University Orchestra performed classical pieces on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Each ensemble was coached by one of the members of Veronika String Quartet, according to the concert program.
Phillips said the Veronika String Quartet placed the students into ensembles based on personality and ability.

Hate crimes webinar was available for students, faculty and staff on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the Occhiato University Center.
According to the FBI Uniform Crime Report, black males are the most likely hate crime victims, based on race. A gay male is the most likely victim based on sexual orientation. Judaism is the most likely religion to be victimized. The least likely to be a victim are people with a disability.
Debate heats up over same sex marriage as Distingished Speaker Series starts

“The Same-Sex Marriage: A Civil Debate,” conducted by John Corvino and Glenn Stanton from Focus on the Family, began the Distinguished Speaker Series hosted at Colorado State University-Pueblo. The debate took place Wednesday night, Nov. 11, inside the Occhiato University Center Ballroom.
Stanton built on the political view and said, "No one has a constitutional right to create intentionally motherless or fatherless families, which every same-sex family, by definition, does.”
