The Cost of Freedom tribute, a four-day event that honors and remembers our uniformed sons and daughters who have served and are serving our country, is on display until Sunday, Oct. 3 on the campus grounds at CSU-Pueblo.

Kirk Farber, author of “Postcards From a Dead Girl,” was the first of eight authors to visit the CSU-Pueblo campus for the Southern Colorado reading series on Sept. 16, 2010. The reading series is now on its’ tenth year on campus.

The CSU-Pueblo homecoming kick-off event was held from Monday, Sept. 27 in the Great Hall in the Occhiato University Center. The event gave students the chance to meet the homecoming king and queen candidates, and learn about the homecoming activities this week.

CSU-Pueblo Band Day featured more than 340 visiting high school band students who performed before and throughout the ThunderWolves football matchup against Adams State College on Sept. 18.

As fall arrives and summer ends, it is time for a change in attire and fashion for CSU-Pueblo students. “Living in Colorado means never knowing what the weather may be like,” said Larissa Hernandez, a 20-year-old sophomore studying speech pathology.

The Black Student Organization of CSU-Pueblo gives students of all ethnicities the chance to learn about African-American history and culture and share information with the rest of the university and the community.

The first ever “Bring the Thunder MMA” took place at the Massari Arena on September 11 with a lot of action and entertainment.

The employees for the CSU-Pueblo Foundation plan to hold a third annual Friends & Scholars scholarship luncheon to honor students who earned private scholarships from donors.

CSU-Pueblo’s Continuing Education Independent Study program offers many courses that are available to students already taking courses on campus.

The CSU-Pueblo Women’s Soccer team strutted their stuff against No.10 ranked Fort Lewis College on Friday night, Sept. 17, at the Rawlings Soccer Complex to improve their record to 3-2.

The Buell Communications Center on the CSU-Pueblo campus is also a new home for the mass communications department offices. Though the department has taught classes in the building for several years now, Jen Mullen, the department Chairwoman of mass communications, said the plan was made long ago.

CSU-Pueblo Provost Russ Meyer said he will not seek the office of the president, if Joe Garcia wins the Nov. 2 election for lieutenant governor, although he might reconsider if the CSU Board of Governors urge him to do it.
