Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Veterans Day ceremony honored the men and women who serve or have served in the U.S. military.
The ceremony was an event that symbolized a day of remembrance, where some the students, faculty and staff members spent time to appreciate veterans and civilians and what they do for the U.S.
Lecturer provides inspiration for art students

Colorado State University-Pueblo students attended a lecture that described art and would motivate them to create an art project.
Brian Buckbee, writer, teacher, CEO and chairman of Buckbee: A Writer Inc., was the artist that spoke Oct. 30 at the lecture. He said it became a public trading company in 2006 and it tried to produce art with the name Buckbee to sell and profit from. Campus celebrates ‘Day of the Dead’

Colorado State University-Pueblo hosted an event in honor of the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos as students, staff, faculty and local residents saw the traditions of the holiday.
They also honored and remembered the lives of people whom they loved and passed on.
Fawn-Amber Montoya, assistant professor of history, Chicano Studies, philosophy and political science, was one of the event’s organizers and is the coordinator of Chicano Studies. Tuba solos as October ends, it must be ‘Octubafest’

Colorado State University-Pueblo will host Day of the Dead, Dia de Los Muertos, giving students, faculty and staff and opportunity to honor those who have passed on.
The event, being held Nov. 2,will have a prayer vigil, dances, informational video about the holiday and altar competition. Altars will be available for viewing from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom and Great Hall. The vigil will be held 6-7:30 p.m. in the OUC Ballroom and attendees will be able tohonor loved ones that passed on There will alsobe performances by the Toch.tli Aztec Dancers during the day and evening.

Colorado State University-Pueblo arranged a pig roast and pep rally Friday, Oct. 23 to bring school spirit to Homecoming week.
The rally, which was organized by Nicky Damania, director of student activites, consisted of performances by the CSU-Pueblo cheerleading team, marching band and Soul Steppers team.

Colorado State University-Pueblo hired Julie Rodriguez as its new director of development to plan events and provide scholarship funding for students.
“I have to believe in my skills and my abilities,” Rodriguez said.
As the director, Rodriguez said she works at CSU-Pueblo because she is responsible for allocating money from donors for scholarship programs. She has to provide funding from scholarship donors and process scholarship funding. Community Colleges toured CSU-Pueblo

Colorado State University-Pueblo invited students from five Southern Colorado community colleges to take a tour of the campus.
CSU-Pueblo Executive Assistant to President Joe Garcia, Trisha Macias said about 250 students attended the event, which was held Saturday, Sept. 26. It was an opportunity for two-year students to see the campus. Students have rights to their education records

Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Admissions and Records Office advises students of their rights to their education records within the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
Katie Velarde, registrar of the records office, sent an e-mail to students on Sept. 2 informing students about their rights to their education records.
The e-mail said FERPA allows students the opportunity to check their records; however the students must send a written request to a dean, head of an academic department, registrar or university official.
