Stig Jantz, a student advisor for the department was asked to resign last summer. The announcement was made without any explanation from the administration, and much to the chagrin of students. Though there was a meeting on August 16 for students to voice their concerns and ask questions, there is still no clear answer on why Jantz was asked to leave.
Young Women’s Real World Conference helps local girls achieve goals

Colorado State University-Pueblo hosted the 6th Annual Young Women’s Real World Conference on Nov. 4 in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom.
The conference, which was for girls attending local high schools, helped them to find out what they wanted to do in the future and helped them forge the path to their goals. Holloween DUI enforcement

The Pueblo County Sherriff will be doing Halloween DUI patrol and enforcement this holiday weekend.
Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick said the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has received special funding from the Colorado Department of Transportation to conduct DUI enforcement during the Halloween weekend.
“We want you to enjoy your parties. But you need to be aware of your surroundings and your safety,” she said.
Homecoming Royalty Dance in review

Colorado State University-Pueblo held its annual Homecoming dance Saturday night. This year, the Homecoming was historic because this was the first time an openly gay man and a 60-year-old woman both ran for Homecoming Queen.

Unique performance to hit campus this week

“ICONS”, a performance by Jade Esteban Estrada, will be in the Occhiato University Center ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 8-9:30 p.m.
The performance features Estrada playing different lesbian and gay icons in history. Nicky Damania, the director of student activities, said students will benefit from what the performer brings.
“The play portrays six famous icons who changed history and they happened to be an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) individual,” he said. Magazine holds workshop to help writers

The literary magazine Tempered Steel held one of many writer’s workshops last week at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
The workshop was a relaxed, unconventional critique session where writers from different backgrounds convened to offer constructive criticism of original poems and short stories.
Tempered Steel, formerly the Hungry Eye, began in 1994. The magazine’s mission is to create an awareness and literary presence on campus and the community of Pueblo to entertain, educate and enlighten.
