Music from Bach, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky echoed through the halls surrounding the Hoag Hall Theater at Colorado State University-Pueblo, as chamber ensembles and the University Orchestra performed classical pieces on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Each ensemble was coached by one of the members of Veronika String Quartet, according to the concert program.
Phillips said the Veronika String Quartet placed the students into ensembles based on personality and ability.

Helping unfortunate people in Africa and Indonesia are not the first thoughts on many college students’ minds, but for one Colorado State University-Pueblo student, it’s all she anticipates doing.
Jennifer Joyce, a nontraditional student at CSU-Pueblo who began in the fall 2009, said she plans on using her anthropology degree to continue her humanity work in Africa and Indonesia.

Dr. Nile Scott, a Pueblo native and alumnus of Colorado State University-Pueblo, has been awarded with an honorary Kiwanis membership for his 30 years of discounted orthodontic treatment to the Pueblo community.
The Kiwanis Club of Pueblo has contributed more than $300,000 to more than 250 low-income or disadvantaged children that need substantial dental work, Zaletel said, such as having a broken jaw reset.
A college student’s guide to surviving winter at CSU-Pueblo

Winter weather conditions may arrive earlier this year, now is the time to prepare for the cold weather. There are some precautions that students at Colorado State University-Pueblo can take to get ready for winter.
According to the Consumer Energy Center, preparing now for winter is suggested. Checking your house for leaks, making sure the insulation is sufficient, and checking and testing your home heating systems will help save money this winter.
Colorado State University-Pueblo will host Day of the Dead, Dia de Los Muertos, giving students, faculty and staff and opportunity to honor those who have passed on.
The event, being held Nov. 2,will have a prayer vigil, dances, informational video about the holiday and altar competition. Altars will be available for viewing from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom and Great Hall. The vigil will be held 6-7:30 p.m. in the OUC Ballroom and attendees will be able tohonor loved ones that passed on There will alsobe performances by the Toch.tli Aztec Dancers during the day and evening.
Homecoming pep rally with free pork provided

Colorado State University-Pueblo arranged a pig roast and pep rally Friday, Oct. 23 to bring school spirit to Homecoming week.
The rally, which was organized by Nicky Damania, director of student activites, consisted of performances by the CSU-Pueblo cheerleading team, marching band and Soul Steppers team.

Colorado State University-Pueblo held its annual Homecoming dance Saturday night. This year, the Homecoming was historic because this was the first time an openly gay man and a 60-year-old woman both ran for Homecoming Queen.

Colorado State University-Pueblo’s student life, cheerleading squad, band members and homecoming nominees gathered together in the annual Homecoming parade.
Parade watchers spread out blankets and chairs to watch the floats and the cheerleaders’’ performance. The Office of Student Activities and Lambda Chi Alpha were some of the groups that participated along with Community Bank.
