All-American Rejects come to Pueblo

September 11th, 2007 by Traci Craig

The All-American Rejects were at the Colorado State Fair last Saturday night for a concert. It was a kick-ass show complete with pyrotechnics, Tyson Ritter’s famous crazy antics and wailing guitar solos.

The band opened with one of their singles “Dirty Little Secret,” to an approval of screams from the audience. It was an energy packed performance with the only exception being the point in the show when Ritter entered the audience to sing a song.

The audience held its breath in anticipation, waiting to see where he would emerge. The problem became clear when an angry Ritter told the crowd that “some skank” had ripped his necklace from his neck. That was bad enough without adding in the fact that the necklace that was stolen was given to Ritter by his mother.

After that he refused to get back on stage to perform the next song and dedicated the next angry song to the “skank” who stole his necklace, before asking the audience to tell her to give it back, which she did eventually. The necklace in question was a small pendant with a guitar cut into it.

Once the necklace was returned, the energy level rose significantly again, the hero of the evening had his prized possession back! Possibly overjoyed to have his necklace back, Ritter then let his brother Zack come onstage to help sing a song.

The crowd seemed a little confused about the new addition, so Tyson introduced his brother before he walked off the stage to rousing cheers and catcalls.

Another significant moment was a guitar solo by lead guitarist Nick Wheeler during their popular hit song “Swing Swing”. The All American Rejects performed a new song at the concert as well, Ritter informed the crowd that they would be performing a song that had not been heard anywhere else before and had in fact just been written that night by the band.

The crowd was very receptive to the new song, holding up lit up cell phones and swaying them to the beat.

They ended with “The Last Song,” at least that’s where we thought they had ended and people actually got up to leave when the band came out to perform one more song.

“Move Along” was the actual last song and the band went out with a bang. Once they all left the stage and the audience began to leave, Ritter came back out onto the stage and began throwing random items to the crowd.

Guitar picks, drum sticks, towels and paper ripped from the ground were thrown into the crowd as people tried to catch anything thrown by Tyson Ritter. After Ritter had thrown everything he could, he gave a final wave to the crowd and was gone.
