Light beer review

December 4th, 2007 by RaeAnne Short

Beer tasting and purchasing can be a very important part of many college student’s lives, as well as a hard decision.

Hi, I’m RaeAnne, and whether you prefer special brews or just the basics, this weekly beer review is the perfect opportunity for me to help you explore your options in the beer world!

The first light beer, or “ale” as they call it, to be tasted and written about had to be a good one, so I went for a well-known name in the light beer industry.

Blue Moon is a very popular, tasty, pale ale that is preferred by many beer connoisseurs.

This beer is a light tasting, pale-colored, fruity beer that is often consumed in a large mug, with an orange slice in it.

Since the original Blue Moon beer is so popular, some may not know that the Blue Moon Brewing Company also produces a seasonal collection to go along with their original ale, which in fact doesn’t always consist of light beer.

Full Moon, by Blue Moon, is the winter ale that is being brewed this fine holiday season and bottled to perfection.

This seasonal brew is an abbey ale, and according to the Blue Moon brewing company, is perfect for the crisp winter days.

This full-bodied ale is brewed with roasted malts and a hint of dark Belgian sugar, and has a very balanced taste.

Weaker than most beers, this brew is only 5.6% alcohol, but the price of a six pack of this brew, is very cost-efficient and won’t break your budget.

The texture of Full Moon is definitely a little thicker than the original Blue Moon, and had the same thickness as many other darker beers do.

After taking the first drink of this unknown beer, I thought to myself, “This tastes like a dark beer, maybe like Fat tire.”

To me, this beer tastes nothing like the original Blue Moon beer, which is a little surprising. During the sampling this caught me off guard, and I was definitely expecting something different.

I wasn’t sure if I liked it after the first drink because of the strong taste and smell that accompanied it.

After a couple beers, the taste began to grow on me and I realized how smooth darker beers can taste and how easy they go down.
The taste of this seasonal brew is pretty potent and has a coffee-like after taste to go along with the hard, bitter, honey-like taste of the beer.

This beer, unlike the original Blue Moon brew, is a dark beige color and has wheat-like, yet coffee-like smell.

If you’re a dark beer lover, this is the perfect beer for you, and may be a new option for you to try.

Even though this is a brew from Blue Moon, which most people, including myself, think is a “light beer only” brewing company, it’s a dark beer that could definitely compete with other dark, “special” brews.

I would probably give Full Moon, Blue Moon Brewing Company’s Seasonal brew, a score of 4, this being on a scale from 1 to 5.

Full Moon definitely wasn’t the best dark beer I’ve tasted, but it’s a nice, smooth beer to drink during the cold, winter season.

The taste of this brew would accompany the holidays, along with their tastes and atmosphere, pretty well.

After reading this wonderful beer review, you might decide that this abbey ale is the perfect choice for you.

“Drink up” and have a jolly time enjoying this cold holiday season, as well as the soon-to-be winter season.
