High participation at poker night

The recent poker tournament, sponsored by the Office of Student Activities, was a huge success.
According to OSA directors and event planners there was more participation than ever before and they actually had to turn people away.
The event had 21 participants. There were three tables with seven people at each. OSA paid dealers from Deuces Wild Casino Rental, in Colorado Springs, to work this tournament and keep things professional.
There were prizes for contestants placing in the top three. Winners received gift certificates to the Pueblo Mall for varied amounts with 1st place receiving $100, 2nd place receiving $50 and 3rd place receiving $25.
Brandon Ballinger, a senior and Finance and Economics major, took first place, Steve Titus, a sophomore and Political Science major took second place, and Thomas Yanker, a freshman and Business major, took third place.
“OSA did a great job putting on this event,” Titus said.
The next big tournament will be held early in the spring semester. There is already a waiting list for this tournament as well, but OSA said that you can still email them if you’re interested.
OSA is trying to make this tournament bigger, by allowing more participants and more tables, as well as holding the event in the OUC ballroom.
Danielle Vincent, OSA entertainment coordinator, said, “The next tournament is going to be bigger and better.”
OSA sponsored events are free for students. Student fees pay for the events, and OSA holds events almost every night.
Students interested can check the CSU-Pueblo web site for these scheduled events.
The tournament took place on Wednesday, Oct. 17th, in the OUC Underground.
