Carrasco earns HLC post
August 27th, 2007 by CSU-Pueblo External AffairsHector Carrasco, dean of the College of Education, Engineering and Professional Studies at CSU-Pueblo, has earned a four-year post to the Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
The 26-member Institutional Actions Council is made up of six public members and 20 peer-reviewers who are recognized for their knowledge, experience and understanding of the accreditation process. Six times a year, a seven-person panel from the Council reviews recommendations and related materials that pertain to the affiliation status of institutions.
The Higher Learning Commission identifies members of the Peer Review/Consultant Evaluator Corps whose distinguished service makes them eligible for consideration to serve the Commission in other capacities.
The Board approved Carrasco’s appointment at its June meeting. His appointment runs from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2011.
CSU-Pueblo recently received a 10-year reaccreditation from the HLC after a two-year self evaluation process. Carrasco was a co-chair of the university’s efforts.
