Jansport’s co-founder visits campus

October 20th, 2007 by CSU-Pueblo External Affairs

JanSport co-founder Skip Yowell will visit the CSU-Pueblo campus on Tuesday Oct. 23 to promote his new book, The Hippie Guide to Climbing the Corporate Ladder and Other Mountains, with a day of presentations and autographs.

Yowell, along with partners Murray and Jan Pletz, co-founded JanSport in 1967 with nothing more than a sewing machine and a fierce determination to make the best and most dependable product on the market.

Forty years later JanSport is the world’s largest manufacturer of backbacks that come with a lifetime warranty, and Yowell is ready to share what he has learned along the way.

More information about his adventures and his book may be found at http://skipyowell.com/

The businessman’s visit to CSU-Pueblo will begin at 8 a.m. with a presentation to a business administration class and interested parties.

From 9-9:30 a.m., he will sign books in the foyer of the Hasan School of Business Room 10 followed by a private meeting with the Experiential Learning Center Leadership Team.

A brown bag lunch presentation from noon-1 p.m. is open to the public in the OUC Cotttonwood Room followed by another book signing at the CSU-Pueblo Bookstore from 1-1:30 p.m.

Yowell’s book will be offered at a 25 percent discount in honor of his visit.
