Hayes Honored as RMAC offensive Player of the week

A CSU-Pueblo women’s soccer player was named the Rocky Mountain Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for the second time.

Robin Hayes, a CSU-Pueblo senior totaled eight goals and one assist, resulting in 17 points in three games last week. After scoring one goal in the RMAC opener against N.M. Highlands, a 3-1 win, Hayes followed with two consecutive hat tricks. She sent four into the goal during a 7-2 win, win over Dana College. In the Adams State game, her nine points set the school record for most points in a single game and most goals in a single game.

Hayes, a graduate of Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colo., is the current all-time career goal scorer in CSU-Pueblo history, currently at 36 goals and counting. She also the school’s mark in career point (74), shots (184), and game-winning goals (10). Her 2007 total of 11 after only six games this season is only two goals away from the school mark of 13, which Hayes set in 2005.Her current point total of 23 leaves her 2007 season already as tied for the fourth best in school history along side Narissa Stahl in 1997 and four points behind Beccah Drennan’s mark of 28, set in 2005. Currently, Hayes is leading the RMAC in goals scored (11) and points scored (23).

Behind Hayes’ goal-scoring the Thunder Wolves are boasting a 4-2 overall record and a 2-0 record in RMAC play, which currently finds them atop the RMAC standing. The ThunderWolves’ place atop RMAC standing will be tested, though, as they take on defending national champion metro State Friday and conference for Regis on Sunday.
