On the morning of the Fourth of July, 80 percent of the Waldo Canyon Fires had been contained. Most of the streets surrounding Manitou Springs, Flying W Ranch, Woodland Park and Garden of the Gods were blocked off.
If you weren’t a victim from the fires, a firefighter, a police officer or military official, you weren’t able to see most of the devastation.
Many residence of Colorado Springs were affected with the disappointing news that the fireworks for the holiday were not allowed. The Waldo Canyon fire burned out of control for over 15,364 acres causing an evacuation of more than 32,000 residents and burning over 350 homes.
How the fires were started, have yet to be confirmed. Two deaths with no names have been reported from this tragedy. This is a photo of one of the homes completely burned to the ground on the Fourth of July.
