Isaiah McGregory: Senator representing the College of Humanities and Social Sciences

Age: 21

Major/Minor: mass communication/ music

Why did you decide to run for the Associated Students’ Government?
Rome wasn’t built in a day. It would be impossible to say that in the allotted time given to me as a senator I could completely change and make every problem in CHASS disappear. I can say that I want to help put in the works ideas that will make our school the best that it can be.

What changes would you like to see at Colorado State University-Pueblo?
These are issues that students have had in the past with CHASS Representatives
-Not being well represented
-Feeling disconnected
-Not enough organization in senate

How do you or your party plan on carrying out these changes?
My possible solutions
-Development of a “Deans Advisory Council” that can come forward about issues.
– More senators
-Key point
-For X amount of colleges or students, there must be equal representation for all.
-Senators in the past
-There has not been enough communication between elected student leadership and department heads
-Possible solutions
-I will meet with department heads at least three times a semester with any issues, comments or concerns that arise.
– I will make all progress in CHASS available for public knowledge

In one sentence explain why students should vote for you.
People should vote for me because I believe there is a great deal of good that I can do for every college under CHASS. With my determination and the support of my fellow classmates, we can get our university to be what we want it to be and make every soul in it proud to represent Colorado State University-Pueblo.

Jazmine Wells: Senator representing the College of Humanities and Social Sciences

Age: 19
Year: Sophomore
Major/Minor: English/ Spanish
Party: Revamp

Why did you decide to run for the Associated Students’ Government?
I decided to run for Associated Students’ Government so I can help empower the student body. I want to help give the students what they want and make any necessary improvements to the university. I also want to strengthen ASG’s relationship with the students and even reach out to the community.

What changes would you like to see at Colorado State University-Pueblo?
I would love to see more student involvement at CSU-Pueblo. I want our students to take interest in what’s going on at our school. I want them to be willing to call this their home away from home.

How do you or your party plan on carrying out these changes?
In order to increase student involvement, my party and I have to put into effect all the changes in our platform. We have to make CSU-Pueblo a more appealing environment. To do so, we will get the concerns of the students and address them.

In one sentence explain why students should vote for you.
If students want to be put into a position of power and feel confident that their school is being revamped to fit their wants and needs, then they should vote for the Revamp Party.

Lindsay Reeves: Senator representing the College of Humanities and Social Sciences

Age: 20

Year: junior

Major/Minor: mass communication emphasis in integrated communication/ leadership studies, marketing and non-profit management

Party: LIVEGREEN

Why did you decide to run for the Associated Students’ Government?
I have been involved in ASG for the past two years and feel as though it is a great way to give back to the campus. I also feel I am a qualified candidate to fight for the issues that matter to the most students.
What changes would you like to see at Colorado State University-Pueblo?
I strongly believe in all of the changes the LIVEGREEN party is standing for. These include:

-Bring back OUR spring concert!!
-Campus technology that works!
-Better and cheaper food on campus
-A safer campus with better lighting and more cops
-Campus-wide recycling program
-Closer parking and less lot closures
-Bi-weekly pay for on-campus jobs
-Sports facility renovations
-Creation of Student Activities Advisory Board for better campus activities
-No finals before 9 a.m.

How do you or your party plan on carrying out these changes?
The LIVEGREEN Party believes in standing by one another and working hard to achieve the changes students on this campus want to see. ASG this year has worked very hard on significant changes to this campus, and the LiveGREEN Party is ready to continue the precedence set this year through hard-work with faculty and administration. I strongly believe by working with the LIVEGREEN Party, I will be able to help the students of CHASS by displaying the work ethic and determination the LIVEGREEN Party prides itself on.

In one sentence explain why students should vote for you.
I have been involved in ASG for the past two years and believe my hard work and dedication over those past two years proves why I should be the senator for CHASS.

Returning ASG Members

What was the most significant change you made or were involved in making during your time in ASG?
I believe there have been many significant changes advocated for by ASG. I believe the most significant change was the advocating for better technology on campus. The students expressed concerns of technology and ASG decided to take a stance on it. Since passing the vote of no confidence, the first of its kind in 30 years, the dependability and reliability of technology on campus has been much improved.

What has being involved with the ASG taught you and how can you apply that knowledge to this term?
Being involved in ASG has taught me a lot about the university structure and how to work with others to achieve a common goal. I have been involved in many high priority topics with strict deadlines. After being involved with ASG for the past two years, I have a very strong background on the structure of the university and who to go to with certain issues or concerns. It is very important to have good working relationships with faculty, staff and administration in order to complete tasks in a timely manner. I believe this knowledge will help in acquiring a third term with ASG and being able to continue the work already started.
